With Thanksgiving just around the corner, here is an easy to make project you can do with your little ones over the Holiday break!
Salt Dough Recipe:
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup water
Hand Turkeys:
- Salt Dough
- Rolling pin
- Baking Sheet
- Tempera Paint
- Brushes
- Mod Podge
In a bowl mix the salt and flour, add the water slowly until the mixture forms a ball. Knead the dough on the counter until it comes together and is smooth.
Make small “pizzas” with the dough, about an inch larger than the size of the handprint you will use.
Make a handprint in the middle of your “pizza”. The thumb will be the turkey’s head and the remaining fingers will be the feathers.
You can bake your Turkey in a 200F oven for 2 hours, or until it is dry (time will vary depending on the size of the turkey) or you can let it air dry.
After the turkey is dry you can decorate it and you are ready to display your wonderful creation!
