Spring break is coming up soon, and you may be starting to wonder what types of activities you’ll plan for your children while they’re out of school to keep them entertained and engaged.
Spring break is only a week long, but it can be a great opportunity for some educational fun in Orlando and the surrounding areas. Here are a couple ideas we’ve gathered to keep your child sharp and having fun over the break.
#1 Find an Orlando Daycare
Kids & Company Learning Centers offer full and part-time childcare as well as after school programs for kids that are not only fun, but also offers an opportunity for children to learn valuable characteristics like empathy, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Not all parents are able to take off work, so finding a daycare is a great way to keep them entertained throughout the day.
#2 Take a Day Trip
One fun place to visit if you have the ability during Spring Break is to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Located one small step from Orlando, the complex offers an amazing look into the history of space travel and our solar system.
During the school year, it might be challenging to reserve time for these types of trips, but they can be educational, rewarding, and fun for the whole family.
#3 Play a Game
It might sound simple, but breaking out the board games during Spring Break can help not only with logical learning, but with emotional learning as well. Winning is fun, but handling losing well is a great skill to have!
#4 Visit the Library
Libraries are filled to the brim with resources. Whether you take your child to go read some books, participate in a class, or if at the end of the day you just rent a fun movie; going to the library is a great was to encourage learning out of school
#5 Work in the Garden
Picking out plants that will work in your yard, watering existing plants, pulling weeds, talking about any bugs you may find. There are plenty of things to learn about in a garden and spring is the perfect time to get their hands dirty before it gets too hot!
Spring Break is a great time for kids to unwind. However, for parents looking for ways to spend the break with their children or searching for ways to expand the opportunity for learning, there are numerous ways.
Kids & Company offers so much more than the typical Orlando daycare. Free hot meals, after school care until 7:00 pm, and we even have the option for Saturday and night care at our Curry Ford location. If you have any questions about our programs, including infant care, childcare, VPK, or after school programs give us a call at (407) 227-1015.
